Gothic Literature Resources on the Internet - GothAdmin - 09-24-2007

In this thread we hope to list pertinent resources found when browsing the Internet. The list is by no means exhaustive and will be reviewed and augmented periodically. We feel that the sites listed here offer original material relevant of the coverage of Gothic romance literature on the Internet.

i] The Gothic Journal [http://www.gothicjournal.com/]

ii] The Lit Gothic [http://www.litgothic.com/index_fl.html] (Thanks Desdemona!)

iii] The Sickly Taper [http://thesicklytaper.com/] Thorough bibliography of Gothic scholarship (Thanks Desdemona!)

** If you know of a resource that you think deserves to be listed here then feel free to post a follow up in this thread listing the resource. We check the thread periodically and relevant sites to the list. (Please refrain from spamming as irrelevant links will be removed and your account could be banned.)

I'd also like to suggest The Literary Gothic for you Gothic geeks.

It's at http://www.litgothic.com/index_fl.html

Here's another web resource.

The website http://thesicklytaper.com/ is a Gothic bibliography compiled by a professor at Allegheny College. It has lists of Gothic works across various languages. They are not Gothic romances necessarily, but that shouldn't be a deterrent for Gothic exploration.

Please add the nonprofit Gothic Romance Lending Library to your list of resources:

http://gothicjournal.com/gothlib.html

It would be helpful if the attached flyer
.pdf   GRLL Flyer 90830-generic.pdf (Size: 142.97 KB / Downloads: 4) was printed and posted anywhere lovers of gothic romance novels might see it and pick up the info about this library that contains over 3,400 gothic romance novels available for inexpensive loan via the USPS. Snip the tear-off info into a fringe on the bottom of each flyer so people can tear off info to take with them. Thanks for your help with this, as we have no budget for advertising this library.

Does anyone have a good resource for gothic cover artists? I've been doing a blog on gothic romance novel covers for some time now and it is very rare to find a signature on many of the older illustrated covers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a great resource for Allen Kass Cover Illustrations.

www.facebook.com/photo_search.php?oid=2583771835&view=all

It is a facebook group with a gallery of nearly 600 cover illustrations.

Very few of the cover art on the books I have contain a signature. However, Gothmeister, who posts many illustrations is very familiar with certain artists' styles, so he may be able to help.

Free H.P. Lovecraft essay about Gothic Fiction-

I found an essay he wrote called: "Supernatural Horror in Literature"

It's all about the origin of Gothic fiction, from both Europe and America.

If you would like to read it, here's the URL:
