I've recently discovered Margaret Erskine and enjoy reading her books. Although I do prefer the historical Gothics and Erskine's books are more like murder mysteries, they are good. The ones I've read involve Inspector Septimus Finch as the detective but each one has a little romance and involves an innocent young girl. There is an air of mystery and suspense and the action is well-paced enough to get the reader to feel the tension building. I'd recommend it for lovers of sentimental Gothics.

I haven't read any of Margaret Erskine's work yet. Thanks for the recommendation. I'm also a fan of mystery, so I may especially like her work. I'll see if I can find any of her books at the local library.
