Looking for old gothic romance - soche11 - 03-27-2017

I read this in my teens or 20's and I'm in my 50's now. I either got it at a used bookstore or the library. The heroine might have been a governess. There was a clan or group of people loyal to the hero and I think they lived on the hero's estate. I think the clan or group were pale because they only came out at night. Maybe they were smugglers but I don't know. The biggest thing that has stuck with me was there was something about a crag in the book. And that's all I remember. Thanks for looking!

Sounds like it could be a Daphne Du Maurier Novel - what country was it set?

Unfortunately I can't remember which country it was set in. I have looked at the Daphne Du Maurier books and if it is one of them, it isn't ringing any bells with me.
