I have read two books by Ursula Curtiss, both of which I really enjoyed. They are described as suspense mysteries but because they do contain elements of romance, I think they qualify as Gothic. In fact, in many respects, they are similar to Mary Stewart’s novels from the 60s. I don’t know if they were ever marketed as Gothics back then. Anyways, both books (Widow's Web & The Deadly Climate) are very suspenseful and well-written. I don’t know much about Ms. Curtiss, but I think she may have been from New England since both books were set there. I would love to find more of her books, if they are available.
