Hm, I think it´s OK Gothic melodrama. 3/5. It is dated and villain is not interesting at all, but there is some effective Gothic moments.

I am just re-reading the book and I have changed my mind about totally uninteresting villain - actually he is one reason to cause those effective Gothic moments!
Only minus: Edition I have is polluted by Stephen King´s ubiquitous presence. His preface has no point, it gets one main character´s name wrong and he tells whole plot to the reader. Moron.
