Joan Aiken's "The Crystal Crow" - paigenumber - 08-24-2007

Well, if you thought "The Fortune Hunters" was mediocre, MysteryMind, try "The Crystal Crow". Aulis goes to Cornwall to recuperate with her friend, Maggie, a doctor. Maggie has another doctor friend, Eleanor, who is there with her brother, Charles, who thinks he has a year to live. The mystery and intrigue revolves around the fiction that Charles is dying.

There is tension, suspense, intrigue that I felt was well done but the story does move rather slowly. The characters are quite a bit strange. This is probably the first time I ever encountered a heroine who is rather weak-willed and promiscuous. "C" rating.
